Il percorso guidato “Romanico in Lomellina”
The “Romanesque in Lomellina” guided tour takes in Robbio, Lomello, Pieve di Velezzo and Breme, and features early Christian, proto-Romanesque and Romanesque monuments. In Robbio, you can visit the small church of San Pietro and the abbey-church of San Valeriano, which was part of an ancient Cluniac priory in the 11th century. In Lomello, look out for the baptistery of San Giovanni ad Fontes (5th – 7th centuries), the basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore (11th century) and the church of San Michele (12th century). Then carry on to Pieve di Velezzo, with its baptistery of San Giovanni and church of Santa Maria Nascente (11th century), and to Breme, with its Benedictine abbey (10th-17th centuries), crypt, monks’ refectory, icehouse and the baptistery behind the parish church.
